neon skittles.

I've been wanting to do neon skittle nails with black on top (a tape mani) but have been too lazy to cut tape and wait for it to dry (which can take FOREVER). So when I saw this manicure inspired by acid wash jeans, I decided to try it with black instead of white! I love it..thanks for the inspiration Jen! It is so simple to do, it makes me wonder why I never thought of it before since I used to layer polishes instead of taking it off and they looked like this a lot anyway!

Thumb: Wet n Wild Through the Grapevine; Pointer: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue; Middle: Spoiled Permission to Proceed; Ring: Spoiled Did I Dye it Too Blonde?; Pinky: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Coral Reef; BLACK Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Black Heart

Just in case you wanted to see, this is what the colors looked like before I put black on top (except the pinky..I wanted to see if using black instead of white worked to I did the pinky first!). The yellow I had to use white underneath because it was SO SHEER. It looked like I was putting a highlighter on my nails it was so thin. The green is a darker color so it wasn't as bad, but next time I probably would use white under it also (I didn't this time).

What do you think?

my pointe exactly.

I did these last month and I loved them! I want to get all the colors in the NY Ballet collection from OPI, but I settled for getting the grey and the glitter. My Pointe Exactly is a gorgeous grey/blue polish, but like all the colors in the collection, VERY VERY SHEER. Because I was doing a sandwich, I literally almost did 10 coats on the bottom just to get it opaque (next time I will find a similar grey/blue polish instead). I then did two coats of Spoiled by Wet n Wild Trust Fund Baby, then two or three more coats of My Point Exactly. Strangely my nails weren't unbelievable thick with polish considering the amount of polish I had on!

I will be doing these again, maybe with a different glitter next time (even though I loved how well the glitter and OPI went together). It was fun to wear, and I think it was the longest I've worn a polish in a long time (at least 4 days).

What do you think? Do you have either of these polishes?

Spring Influenster VoxBox 2012.

I received my first Influenster Box a while back, and I've had time to try out all the products so I thought I'd share my opinion on some of the products!

Really quick, most people know what Influenster is, but just in case...You sign up on their website (completely free, by the way) and you start unlocking badges that pertain to the person you are! There are mom badges, animal lovers, eco lovers, and more. Once you become qualified, they email you asking if you want to participate in their next VoxBox, and then they tell you when it will be sent out. After you've had your products for a while, you fill out a survey about your opinion on each product in the box. Easy and free! :) It's not always beauty products; last box I remember seeing had Palmolive hand soap, Venus razor, and I don't remember what else...Visit their website for a more detailed description !

Here are the products I was sent by Influenster to review and give my HONEST opinion on :

The list of the products in the VoxBox, the retail prices, and a description of the product.

Everything in the box, including an extra!
Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash
I really liked this body wash. I've tried Aveeno Body Wash before (the lavender scented one, which I think was CALMING) but that was before they changed their bottles and everything. I liked this because it really left my skin soft after using it the FIRST time. I usually don't care about my body wash moisturizing my skin, but after using this, I care. The scent is pleasant, not too overpowering. I will definitely be buying this when I run out of my current body wash!

Sheer Cover Duo Concealer in Light/Medium
I don't tend to use concealers because, even though I have dark circles under my eyes, I feel like cream concealers don't stay on well and make the skin under my eyes look worse. I do like using powder concealers, like using Bare Minerals as a concealer. Sheer Cover concealer was OK. I like the fact that it comes with two different colors so the user can customize the color to match their skin tone, but other than that I didn't care for it. It is really smooth, the packaging is nice and compact, and a good amount of product came with this. This didn't make my skin look bad, it just didn't seem to help any.

Bath and Body Works Fine Mist Fragrance in Twilight Woods
I was so happy when I saw this was the scent I received in my box because it is my favorite BBW has. I really like their new bottles. It looks sleek and less bulky than the ones they've had in the past. I like the design all around the bottle instead of a sticker on the front. As usual, they last a while on, but I tend to have a small on in my purse anyway for after I eat or something. You don't have to use a lot so it'll last forever!

SoyJoy Bar in Strawberry
I've tried these when they first came out, I think it was apple or something. I didn't like it. The strawberry one, however, wasn't bad. They have a weird texture, but when you get past that (except I know some people can't get past that..) the taste isn't that bad. I think considering the nutritional value and that is is good for you, the taste was great. I might buy this again, maybe another flavor (other people also got this in blueberry and said it was yummy).

Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Wild Child
These have been out a while and I've wanted to try them, but I just couldn't see spending $10 on them without knowing how they work or last against the world. I was happy to get one in my box, even if it was animal print (not a big fan). I ending up using it on an accent nail with a dark purple polish and it was really cute. They are easy to put on, but my one problem was that it says you file off the extra and wrap it on the edge of your nail, but I wasn't able to do that. It wouldn't file off so I carefully ripped it off, which ended up ripping off a little off my nail. I then fixed it by using black polish to paint along the nail edge and also where the "chip" was and it looked like part of the zebra stripe.
Different kinds of strips you can buy!
Wet n Wild Disturbia and Sally Hansen Salon Effect in Wild Child

I like how they came out, and the black along the edge of my nail made it look so much better anyway, like a finishing touch. It says they last up to 10 days, but as most nail bloggers do, I only left them on for a couple days before moving on. I will definitely use these again, maybe with red nails. They came off with nail polish remover, but it was weird and a bit hard to take off (not like glitter nail polish is hard though).

This was an extra that came in the box they added last minute. I don't usually wear heels anymore, but they work in sandals and regular shoes also. I like these because they're small enough to go in sandals or heels, and that they are great for the ball of your foot. I would definitely recommend this to my friends because they wear heels more than I do!

So that's what I got! Did anyone else get this box? What do you think about the products? Let me know!

holo orange.

Hello! Today I got to hang out with a good friend of mine I've known for 13 years (since I moved to Bakersfield in 1999), and it was just a really good time for me. We don't hang out a lot because she's a married lady and is busy a lot, but when we're able to get together it's great.
Anyway, this was my first time really wearing holo polish. I've worn it really quick to swatch, or a topcoat chunky holo like from Kleancolor, but never this. I loved it! I also have it in yellow, but I'm not sure how I'd look in that unless used for some kind of nail art, but this was fun. It's so glittery and colorful! It also didn't take a lot of coats to get to full opacity.

I had a lot more pictures, but I held back on posting them all :) What do you think?? Do you have any Kleancolor holo polishes?

on tour.

Happy Summer! I have to say, this is the one season I really hate. The average temperature where I live is at least 90 degrees (maybe I don't know..but it is hot hot hot here, a lot of times even in the 100s) and I hate heat! Bleh. Anyway, this was the first time I used Wet n Wild MegaLast and I really liked it! This is On Tour with silver hex glitter from Sally Girl

I liked this at first, but after a few hand washes, the silver started coming off the microbeads, making them clear which I was then able to see the purple nail polish underneath (maybe next time use the same color polish of the beads I use, duh!).

I probably won't be doing this again, but I do like the hex glitter on top of On Tour!

What do you think? How's Summer going for you??
