Tribal.

Well, I decided this week I wanted to do something different with my nails. Usually I do simple nails, then as the days progress, I add thing to my nail whether it is a french tip, glitter, dots, whatever. This time I wanted to plan my nails ahead of time!

I love the look of tribal nails. Some of them are so crazy, I sometimes think of asking the artists to show me their other hand :) Anyway, I just wanted something simple, so I googled "simple tribal nail" and went through images. I found a couple I liked, but I wanted to use my new blue and I had white nail art polish, so I was limited.

Here are the polishes I used:

ULTA Salon Formula Nail Lacquer in Set the Nude, L.A. Colors Art Deco in White, Love & Beauty Nail Polish in Sky Blue, and Seche Vite.

This is what the ULTA Set the Nude looked like alone. I Love the color, but the formula was so thick, it was hard to use at times. I don't think this is the case with the whole line, however, because I have a purple I have used before and it wasn't as bad as this was. I just really like the color.

This is the nicest my nails have ever looked after painting them. Usually I have nail polish everywhere on my hand. My philosophy was "eh...the rest of it will come off by tomorrow." But lately, I'd have build up along the cuticle, so as they grew it would leave it right in the middle of my nail..not pretty. So I literally googled "how to paint my nails like a pro" and the first person that popped up was someone I already follow! Here's the video in case you were curious.

Out of all the images I found on google, I used two, on just two nails. They're simple and turned out ok (on my left hand..don't ask to see the right!!). Here they are:

Close up of index finger:

I changed mine up a little from this girl's version by off setting the blue stripe and adding the blue dots down the side. I used a toothpick on this one to do the white, but then was able to borrow my sister-in-laws nail art polish when she got home! So much easier..but that's why it's a bit jagged.

I did my own version of this girl's tribal nails. I really like the black rather than white, but I used what I had!! The white also made everything look softer, so it was okay with me.

I hope you liked them!

Day Five: Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color in Cherry Bomb

DAY FIVE :

This one is going to be short and sweet. I have a couple Mega Last lip colors from Wet n Wild, and I really like them. Not only are they a great price, but the colors are really opaque. They don't go on sheer at all. They also aren't too shiny, almost matte.

Anyway, I got Cherry Bomb and it is a really BOLD color. It is definately not an everyday color for most people. I would describe it as burgundy or deep red wine color. Very vampy! I would definately reccommend using a brush (which is saying something because I don't ever use lip brushes). Also, scrubbing your lips would be good, because this color is so dark that any imperfections would make it really dark, almost black, on your lips. That's just my opinion!!

Day Four: Sonia Kashuk Luxury Lip Color in Floweret

DAY FOUR:

This is another example of a lipstick I saw in a magazine. I like that it is an alternative to a classic red lip..it's red-orange, or as I've seen some people call it, apricot. It kind of reminds me of a vintage lip color. There is no shimmer, no frost, it is just a nice, creamy color!

I haven't worn this for a long time, probably since I bought it, and I don't know why. It is a really nice color. The thing I have noticed about it, however, is that when it fades on your lips, it tends to have a grainy texture to it. It isn't extreme to where it would bug you (like some of my organic chapsticks get), but there is a definite change to the way it feels when I rub my lips together. This won't stop me from wearing it again, though!

Here it is on my hand :

You can see it is a bit sheer, but it does give great coverage! It is also nice and glossy.
Here it is on the lip (in the shade) :

Here it is on the lip (in sunlight) :

I didn't use a flash with the second picture, but as you can see, they look completely different in the shade vs. the light. Both are very gorgeous in my opinion!!

If you are interested in this product, you can get other lip colors of the same brand here, or visit any Target location (because I am pretty sure it is a Target exclusive brand?) Sadly I don't think they have this exact color anymore.

Day Three : Maybelline ColorSensational Lip Color in So Pearly

DAY THREE :

Like I'm sure most people do, I get a lot of makeup ideas from magazines (and blogs of course). I used to look through Marie Claire, Cosmo, Allure, and Nylon, looking at all the new makeup that month and the colors I liked. Each month, I'd have napkins everywhere with notes written on them! The point of my story is that most of the lipstick I have were ideas I got from magazines, like this one:

I normally don't like frosty colors, and usually reach for creams or shimmer. But I saw this on a model in a magazine, fell in love and thought "I could pull that off!" So I got it..and loved it..and I do believe I can pull it off :)

They have different shades of this kind of lip color, lighter and darker, so no matter what your skin color, there is a nice nude lip anyone can pull off with a frosty finish.

Here is what it looks like on my arm (this picture makes it seem very shimmery, which it is, but it is also frosty):

And here it is on the lip, in daylight:

in the shade:

I liked this so much I grabbed a couple..I also got a version of it in a lipgloss which I will probably do sometime in this 30 day challenge!

What ColorSensational lip colors have you tried?

Maybelline ColorSensational Lip Color in So Pearly: price ranges - cheaper at Target/Walmart, more expensive at drugstores like Walgreens/CVS (unless on sale or if there is a manufacture coupon).

Mini - Love & Beauty Haul

Me and my mom went to Forever21 the other day, and each time I go in there, they have a limited amount of nail polishes out, and some by the register, but this time, they had a bunch all in the same place, so I went crazy. I limited myself to only four, though, but promised them I would be back next week for more.

Here is what I got! :

Love & Beauty Nail Polish in Star Glitter, Aqua Glow in the Dark, Mint, and Sky Blue.

Here's a closeup of the star glitter and the Aqua Glow in the Dark :

Even closer of each:

I'm excited about both of these. My mom used the glitter one, and as I expected, the glitter doesn't just go on nicely. The clear is thin so it doesn't stick, but that doesn't matter. I can just dab them on.
Also, I used the glow in the dark on my nails for polka dots, but I think if I were to use it by itself it would be very sheer no matter how many coats I put on. I think it'd be nice on top of another opaque color of a similar shade. Even so, I think I am going back to buy all the different glow in the dark colors. They are just so awesome to me..and only $2.80!

I had been wanting a nice minty green for my nails for a while, and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it. A couple months before I had taken a picture of nail polishes from Forever21 and sent them to my mom as a "wishlist picture" for my birthday and Christmas, so looking back on them I thought "Perfect! I'll also get a pretty blue in the same pack!"

The pack was even cute, and it is reusable with a zipper lock on the back! Also, the fact that it is only $4.50 was great in my book considering one nail polish is $2.80 normally. They have a few other packs like this, with red, black, purple and more, but this was exactly what I was looking for, so I was happy.

Here are Mint and Sky Blue up closer :

So far, I've only used Mint on my nails, but I love it. They go on creamy, and it took only two coats for it to become opaque. I took a picture of it with one coat, though, so you can see what it looked like (excuse the messy-ness around the nails!)

Here's what it looks like with three coats (again, they're messy..I am a messy polisher) :

And because I was really excited about the glow in the dark polish, I did polka dots on my accent nails. They are so cute when I turn the lights off! I really wish I could get a picture of them glowing, but my camera just doesn't capture them. If you look closely, you can see blue dots on the one nail.

All in all, I think these were great buys. I guess I was in a blue/green mood or something, I didn't realize until I got home just how many of the same thing I got. Next week I will get more variety (I had my eye on a few reds and purples!). Love & Beauty also had a line of sceneted polishes and matte colors. I am very excited to buy more! :)

[ I used Seche Vite on top of my nails. ]

Has anyone else used Love & Beauty nail polish?

Love & Beauty nail polishes range from about $1.50-$2.80 each. They have two packs like the one above for $4.50, and they even have sets with a lot more in them for under $10.

Day Two : E.L.F. Essential Lipstick in Classy.

DAY TWO :

I love anything cheap. If a makeup product is cheap AND works really well, I feel like I've won the lottery. I started using e.l.f. in high school before Target started selling it, however, at the time I only got eyeshadows from them.

I just got this lipstick the other day, and I love it. At first when I got it, it was hard to put on because the lipstick was practically frozen and no color was going on my lips (and this also caused the lipstick to break so I had to get another one). Once I warmed it up a bit, though, it went on smoothly!

The weird thing about e.l.f. cosmetics is the color they use to represent the color of the product (if that makes sense). I even notice online it is weird..The package for these lipsticks have stickers that are supposed to represent the color in the tube, but for this one (which is obviously a nice light pink) showed a coral color. This makes for a hard time if you're shopping for products online! Luckily with this lipstick there is a clear space that shows you the lipstick so you'd be able to see the actual color.

...moving on..Here it is on my arm:

It was hard to capture this lipstick because the flash would completely ruin the color.
Here it is on the lip:

I think this is a nice, everyday color most people can wear. It even stays on for a long time!

I've decided...

I've decided to do a 30 Day lip challenge : a different lip for 30 days. I think I have enough lip glosses, sticks, stains, etc. for that! :)

So here is DAY ONE :

Sephora Lipstick No. 94 (This is from before they changed their collection).

Here's my little story on this lipstick. I waited forever for this color! It was out at the Sephora I always went to (in a town two hours away because they hadn't opened yet in my town) for weeks..maybe even months. I finally got a job, yadda yadda, and was able to order it online - after of course waiting for it to get back into stock. This is from 2006 (back when red exploded in the lipstick scene), and not only was this my first online purchase ever, but it was MY FIRST RED LIPSTICK! So I was excited. :)

Here is it on my arm.

Here it is on the lips :

It's just a tiny bit sheer, but it still gives nice coverage. Its very smooth and shiny. I'm wasn't wearing lipgloss or anything in that picture, just the lipstick alone!! Sephora lipsticks are great that way :)

While this particular style of Sephora lipstick is no longer sold, they have a new style and I'm sure they have similar colors. If you're interested, visit their website here, or find your nearest Sephora store!
