big news!! (for me..and maybe you)

I am super duper excited ( yeah..I just said DUPER )...I went to a new Walmart today (not really new, but it's the newest one in town) and they sell ELF!! I don't know how long they've been doing that, but I just went yesterday to two different Walmarts (the one I went to today and the oldest one we have) and the old one didn't sell it..and I guess I didn't go down the aisle yesterday I went down today at the new one that I saw the ELF.

What I'm even more excited about is that what they sell is different than what Target sells. They have different Studio products, like the matte lipcolor. The $1 products were also a bit different, but I was too excited about the Matte Lipcolor and Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder. I was going a little crazy, but narrowed it down to two things telling myself "it's a permanent thing..don't go crazy!"

This is what I got at Walmart (from ELF) :

ELF Matte Lip Color in Tea Rose, and Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder  in Blushed/Bronzed.

But here's what I got total :

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Solid as a Rock, and Pure Ice in Heartbreaker
I absolutely hate the packaging for the blusher/bronzer duo...well the outer package. To me, the bronzer looks like an olive green/brown color. Not pretty. But it is so pretty inside :

The picture doesn't show it that great..but they're great! I made the mistake of using it like my other bronzer/blush where I rub the brush a couple times to get color but trust me..don't do that. I did that and then put the bronzer on my forehead first, and I then had a brown forehead because so much powder was on there. A little goes a long way. These give great color for those who have never used this brand. I have Candid Coral, and I like it as well. Happy with this purchase.

I love these lip colors. I want to go back and get more. I have wanted this for a long time, so I was excited to see it in store. This is such a feminine color to me, and so is the name : Tea Rose. That's exactly what this color makes me think of..sitting down and drinking tea. Floral dresses, doilies.. yeah. Perfect name ELF!! Here are all these products on my arm (Bronzer, Blush, Lip Color) :

The lighting was a little bit overcast, so this lip picture looks a bit off (to me anyway), but I still thinks this color looks great. I think this also comes in red, a coral color...They have it all on their website if you're curious. They're also only $3 which makes them even greater in my book!

I also got a couple nail polishes because Walmart finally cleaned up their nail polish area and re-stocked their colors. The past few times I went to look at their Pure Ice section, they've been completely out of everything but the bright green they sell. I was happy to see this color, I saw it a long time ago on someone's blog and wanted it in my collection! I saw a purple version as well (my favorite color) but at a different location so I might have to go see if it's still there next week :

So pretty. Ok a little story..I have wanted Nicole by OPI in Kim-pletely in Love since before it came out, and I have had such a hard time finding it. Everywhere they've been out of it (sort of like Whimsical but I won't even go into that right now!!), so when I saw Sinful Colors Glass Pink I was really excited because, to me, it looked almost like I remember Kim-pletely in Love to look like..not that I had anything to compare it to. So I bought it, and it was only $1.99 which appeased me for a little bit. But I still yearned..everywhere that I went that sold Nicole by OPI I looked to see if they had Kim-pletely in Love but nope.

Yesterday while at Walmart, I saw Sally Hansen Solid as a Rock and got excited because I thought it, too, looked like Kim-pletely in Love. And it's even cheaper than $1.99, so that made me even happier. A friend and I went to two different Walmarts, Target, and CVS yesterday looking for a shampoo, and we went to a CVS that's only been opened about a month by her house, and I almost screamed (not really)..THERE WAS ONE Kim-pletely in Love LEFT!!! Needless to say I got it. So I think I will, soon, compare these three just to see if I was right about them being similar. I saw another blogger was asked to compare Kim-pletely in Love to OPI Pedal Faster Suzi or something, which are obviously not the same color. But these are all similar in my opinion, except maybe the amount of shimmer, and yes I see Kim-pletely in Love is lighter than the other two..but on the nail, we shall see! Glass Pink looks like it has more shimmer, and Solid as a Rock looks like it has a lot less shimmer. I also saw in a swatch that Kim-pletely in Love has a bit of a bluish shimmer to it? Look out for the comparison post soon! :

tales from an orange face.

A couple weeks ago, I went through my makeup cabinet and found a foundation I've never used, Maybelline SuperStay 24 Hours, so I thought I'd use it. I wore it a day, and the end of the day my face looked better than it normally does so I said "that's a keeper!" But it made my skin a little orange, so I took it in to exchange it for the lighter color.

I am normally the lightest color they make, unless they make a porcelain color, in which case I'm the second color. Because of this, I had gotten the second color the first time around, so I got the first one..the lightest one : Porcelain Ivory. Anyway, I decided to use it one day, putting it on my hand a little and rubbing it in and I said "oh yeah this will be perfect", so I put more on my hand and dabbed with my brush before leaving my house to pick up a friend, and when we had stopped at a light, I looked in the mirror to check my lipgloss and my face was literally ORANGE. So orange, I looked like an Umpa Loompa! I freaked out..I have only really started wearing liquid foundation and it seems every time I wear one I have some sort of issue with it. But I just didn't understand why this was SO DARK on me! It was the lightest color they made, and I'm not even that pale.

I kept asking my friend why the heck she didn't tell me my face was so orange, and she didn't get it because she doesn't wear makeup. I then looked down at my hand where I had put it on earlier to dab my brush on, and it too was orange. The only thing I can think of is that once it is dry, it gets darker. I feel like it was getting darker in the sun, like a tan!!

Well, there's my story of the week. I'll get it right one day I hope :)

ULTA Sparkle and Shine Swatches + Review.

Hey all.. Well I got this for Christmas from my friend, Liz. I think it's really cute! In fact I was eyeing it every time I had gone to ULTA. I thought I'd show the different colors they have in it and swatch them. I don't think they sell the set anymore, but the colors inside are sold in their full sizes.

Here is the box they come in. It's brown satin.

Here are the glosses. It's a pink set! The numbers I put on there aren't the ones you would see in store, I put them on there so as not to get confused when seeing them on my arm or lip. That brings to the weird thing about this set..they don't tell you what color they are!! I know they sell these in the bigger sizes in store (if not all of them, then most of them), because I have one of them and I've seen others.

Here they are on my arm. I was excited when I did this because they look very pigmented and shimmery, but it isn't really the case when they go on the lip :

#1 : I like this color. It's sheer, and doesn't really have color. I like that it mutes my natural color, though.

#2 : This has a bit more color, but it isn't very noticeable. It almost seems more clear than any color.

#3 : Looking at the tube, I thought "Finally! Something different." But nope..It does have more shimmer, but it still seems to look like #2.

#4 : Still getting darker, even thought it doesn't look like it, but I'm sure compared to #1 it's darker.

#5 : FINALLY! Love this color. It's a creamy pink and very pretty. I may just have to take it in and find it's larger twin :)

#6 : Sheer color, like a tinted lip clear gloss (if that makes sense).

#7 : A nice, darker pink with shimmer, a big step from the other colors!

#8 : This is lighter than the previous, but it's more brown than pink. It does still have pink tint in it though, and lots of shimmer.

#9 : A darker brown pink. I think it's pretty!

#10 : More brown than pink. On my hand it looks similar to #8, but it doesn't really look the same on the lip.

PROS :
  • Nice range of pinks.
  • Shiny.
  • No noticeable smell.
  • Small, great for on the go, and for when you just want to try the colors.
  • Can easily get the larger tube from ULTA.
  • Sheer (for those who like that).
  • Not sticky, not watery.

CONS :
  • Takes multiple dips in the tube to cover lips.
  • Doesn't tell you name on anything, so you would have to take it in the store and try and match it.
  • Sheer (for those who don't like that).
ULTA Sparkle and Shine : I don't know the price of this, but it doesn't matter since I don't think they sell it. But the larger tubes are about $8.

Day Thirty : Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in Perfect Peony

DAY THIRTY :

Last day! This has been longer than was planned (sometimes technical difficulties with pictures!) but now I'm done. I think I might do the nail challenge yet, but I'm not sure yet.

Anyway, this is my last color...Perfect Peony. It is a pretty color, but I hate the formula! I have never worn this, so grabbing this without testing it wasn't exactly the greatest idea. But it's still pretty.

It's very watery formula at first. It also looks sheer, like here on my arm :

Here it is on the lip :

I really like this color!

But when it finally dries? Sticky sticky sticky :

That picture makes me laugh. That's my lips sticking together. Even after a while, I thought maybe it'd dry more so it'd be like the ColorStay Lipstick, but nope. Still sticky. And pure hell to get off..

Has anyone else had better experience with this line?? What colors have you tried?

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in Perfect Peony : about $8.99

Day Twenty Nine : Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Really Red

DAY TWENTY-NINE :

So, who watched the Super Bowl today?? I sure did. Of course, I went to a friend's house, so only one eye was on the game while I was hanging out with everyone.

Anyway, I'm almost to the end of this challenge, and I couldn't not have this on here. I love the color and i LOVE the way it looks. It is an honest matte. I have some "mattes" that still seem to have a shine to them. What's also great about this is that it isn't drying at all. I could rub my lips together, and it feels like a normal lipstick. It's great!

I also love the packaging..a matte black case.

Here it is on the lip :

Gorgeous (the shine is the flash..just sayin!). I have this in a light pink too that I would never wear (except I did wear it to my friends '80s birthday bash because it went with my outfit perfectly), it is TOO light for me, but I think a mauve would be pretty. I think I need to look into that..

Do you have any colors in this line from Revlon? What is your favorite matte lip color/brand?

Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Really Red : about $5.99

Day Twenty Eight : Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink in the Afternoon

DAY TWENTY-EIGHT :

I know I'm late posting this but I've either fallen asleep before I could post it, or come home way late! This is what I wore the other day. I had pictures, I just wasn't able to post them!

I really like this color. It's like a baby doll pink. I bought it because I liked the name. I wore this to the museum, with just mascara on my eyes..a natural face.

I like the lids on most of them (there isn't a picture of it on here though). Revlon has a clear plastic wrapper so it would be hard to see the color, but most of them have a see-through top, making it easy to see how it looks.

Revlon makes really smooth lipsticks (the ones I have anyway). This goes on nice and creamy, and I only needed one swipe to get it to what it looks like in the pictures. The color pigment is so great!!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink in the Afternoon : about $5.99

Day Twenty Seven : Sephora Glossy Gloss in Rusted Rose

DAY TWENTY-SEVEN :

I really like Sephora Glossy Glosses because they're inexpensive (compared to the other glosses they sell there, of course), feel great on the lip, and they have a wide range of colors (green, yellow, purple? Come on now!). Also, I like their new look.

It's a gorgeous pink..it almost looks iridescent here (just a hint at the bottom) :

Here it is on the lip :

Love. Yet another everyday pink color. What colors do you have from Sephora Glossy Gloss?

Sephora Glossy Gloss in Rusted Rose : $10.00
